Hard manganese steel - used in forming forg points on steel rails

Frog points composed of a hard austenitic Mn steel casting in which the content of Mn to C is 10:1, and contg Mn 11-15%, pref. 12-14%, are joined to ordinary Mn steel rail by electron beam welding under vacuum or partial vacuum. The welded joint does not require a further heat treatment.
