1287085 Edging strips; seal strips A E TAYLOR 6 Aug 1970 [15 Aug 1969] 38008/70 Heading B5K [Also in Divisions E1-E2] A flexible strip for concealing exposed edges in motor body constructions, furniture or sealing strips for straddling over the edge of a metal sheet particularly car bodies and doors comprises a continuous non-metallic relatively hard core member 224 of channel form e.g. of extruded polypropylene, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, a block copolymer of propylene and ethylene, linear polyethylene, nylon or materials including hard rubber, and an opaque stretchable cover 250 received over the bight of the core and extending to the mouth of the channel terminating short of the ends of gripping flanges 232, so that these latter can grip on a member received within the channel, and a plurality of transverse slots 136 extending through the bight 238 of the core member or the opposite open side of the channel or both as indicated in Fig. 9, and perpendicular to the axis of the channel to provide flexibility of the strip, the cover 250 covering the transverse slots 136. The cover 250 may be woven elastic material or extruded on the core or may be stretched over the core prior to securement of the strip on the member and may be preferably a thin sheet of resilient plastics. The cover 250 may have a laterally extending continuous flange 260 integral with the cover for sealing or weather excluding purposes. |
