<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe antioxidant having high free radical-scavenging ability for preventing/inhibiting skin aging and/or dermatoses caused by active oxygen(free radical), and to provide a skin care preparation for external use compounded with the antioxidant. <P>SOLUTION: The antioxidant comprises, as active ingredient(s), extract(s) from one or more plants selected from the group consisting of Pueraria phaseoloides, Lindenbergia indica, Gleichenia gigantea, Cotoneaster acuminata, Cyathocline purpurea and Pyracantha crenulata.
