PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a power steering gear and make it compact, by supporting a swing housing at the peripheral surface on an outer bearing on a gear box and mounting an inner bearing in the swing housing so that the inner bearing supports a pinion shaft and has a prescribed inward eccentricity as to the outer bearing. CONSTITUTION:A swing housing 4, in which a pinion shaft 3 is rotatably supported by inner bearings 5, 5', is supported at the peripheral surface by a pair of upper and lower outer bearings 6, 6' on a gear box 1. At least one inner bearing 5 is mounted in the gear box 1 inside the outer bearing 6. The inner bearings 5, 5' and the outer bearings 6, 6' are eccentrically arranged so that the axis O4 of the swing housing 4 has a prescribed eccentricity from that O3 of the pinion shaft 3 toward the point of engagement of a rack 2a and a pinion 3a. A rod 8 for operating a changeover valve 9 is provieed at the top of the swing housing 4 so that the distance between the valve and the axis O4 of the housing is larger than said eccentricity. |
