<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage medium management device which allows a storage medium provided in an image forming device, to be efficiently used by preventing a specific user or group from monopolizing the storage capacity of the storage medium. <P>SOLUTION: When the inputted department code is accepted and the start key is accepted, the image of a document is read by a scanner to generate the image data of the document, and image processing is performed. It is discriminated whether or not a capacity resulting from adding the capacity of the processed image data to a present use capacity corresponding to the inputted department code, which is used at present exceeds the maximum use capacity which limits the use capacity set for the department code, for storing image data. Unless the resultant capacity exceeds the maximum use capacity, the image data are stored, and various data are updated. In the case that the resultant capacity exceeds the maximum use capacity, excess over the maximum use capacity is displayed on a control panel and is reported to a manager managing the storage medium, by an electronic mail, and processing preliminarily set to the department is executed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
