PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding pallet unit embodied in a simple construction, capable of being placed easily on the load carrying platform of a freight car and of transferring objects between upon the load carrying platform and a position protruding therefrom in the horizontal direction, and provide such a freight car equipped with the pallet unit. SOLUTION: The sliding pallet unit 16 is equipped with a movable pallet 18, a base part 20 which guides the movable pallet 18 so that it can slide between the accommodating position where it is accommodated on the load carrying platform 12 and the protruding position protruding from the platform 12 approximately in the horizontal direction and is able to support the pallet 18 in the cantilever state in the protruding position, and an upward extending part 22 arranged able to be installed in the vicinity of the end of the base part 20 which is located on the side opposite to the side where the pallet 18 is protruding so that it extends upward above the base part 20, wherein the base part 20 can be fastened to the platform 12 by coupling the platform 12 with that part of the upward extending part 22 which extends upward above the base part 20.
