DNA encoding human vanilloid receptor VR3, and method for identifying compounds that modulate the receptor protein

An isolated and purified nucleic acid molecule which encodes a human Vanilloid Receptor 3 (VR3) protein which comprises the amino acid set forth in SEQ ID NO:7 is described. Preferably the nucleic acid sequence is Seq ID No: 5 and 6. Also described are vectors and recombinant host cells comprising the DNA encoding the VR3 protein and process for expression of the protein.
