<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage material of high capacity in which the quantity of hydrogen effectively dischargeable to the outside at a room temperature is more increased than the conventional case. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage material comprises hydrogen storage alloy powder, C element-containing crystal powder, hydrogen compound powder or Mg powder. The hydrogen storage alloy powder, the C element-containing crystal powder, the hydrogen compound powder or the Mg powder are mutually joined in a mixed state.
