1,158,652. Reclining chairs. DUAL MFG. & ENG. Inc. 1 June, 1967, No. 25222/67. Heading A4J. The seat of a reclining chair is arranged to move forwardly and upwardly, as the backrest is tilted rearwardly, so that lateral projections 10, of the seat cushion, clear the ends of the chair arm rests, and thus do not impede the movement of the chair to the reclined positions. The linkage system is carried on support plates 52 screwed to the chair base. Stationary pivots 60, (71), for levers 70, 104 and 112 are fixed on plate 52 to carry the whole system. A push bar 62 carries pivots 72, 84, 118 and 124 and the seat side rail 22 carries pivots 80, 88, 122 and 138. The initial rearward tilting of the backrest 44 erects the footrest 156 by movement of bar 62 relatively to rail 22. Further movement rotates the lever 102 to lift the front of the seat and footrest into the fully reclined position. |
