In a colour television tube employing a parallax grid, the grid comprises two sets of wires at different potentials, the mean of which is the anode potential, so that it also operates to focus the beam or beams on to the phosphor strips. In Fig. 4B the grid comprising two sets of wires 1a and 1b is disposed parallel to the fluorescent screen with the wires parallel to the colour stripes R, G, and B. A potential difference V F is maintained between the two sets of wires, and the mean potential of the grid is equal to the potential V a of the fluorescent screen. The screen is scanned by three beams, which may originate from three electron guns or from a single gun, and as shown the beams R o , G o and B o are focused only on the corresponding stripes R, G and B. In a modified arrangement, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), three grid wires are provided for each set of three stripes, two of the wires being connected together, and the potentiometer 7 is arranged to supply + 2/3 V F to one set of wires - 1/3 Vp to the other set so that the mean is still zero. |
