A centrifugal fan for automobile heaters comprises an impeller 3 mounted in a housing 4 of rotational symmetry. The impeller blades 19 extend tangentially from the shaft 2 to merge into radial portions, and are fastened to a dished plate 20. Arranged at the lower end of the housing is an annular partition 16 connected to a number of angularly-spaced flow-straightening vanes 18. Air drawn into the housing by the impeller is discharged through the annular space between the periphery of the partition and the housing, and thence through a heat exchanger 13. The length of the neck 5 of the housing may be reduced, the length of the impeller blades being reduced to correspond. Clearance 17 permits cooling of the electric driving motor 1. |
