Niobium-base alloys containing tungsten, hafnium and carbon are improved in respect of their strength in the range 300 DEG -1,000 DEG C. by the addition of silicon and by restriction of the atomic ratio of hafnium to carbon to certain critical limits. At least 100 parts per million of silicon is necessary to produce an upward trend in the ultimate strength of the alloy. |
