1,254,228. Motor vehicle headlamps. WESTFALISCHE METALL INDUSTRIE K.G. HUECK & CO. 15 Aug., 1969 [16 Aug., 1968], No. 40982/69. Heading F4R. A vehicle headlamp of the type which can emit either a main or a dipped beam has a lens consisting of two members 3, 4 provided with complementary lens elements 5, 6 in the form of vertically extending convex or concave flutes separated by plane zones 7, 7a of the same width as the flutes. The rear member 3 is movable laterally relative to the front member 4 so that the elements 5, 6 can be superimposed, as shown, to produce no significant scattering of the main beam or can be displaced into registration with the plane zones of the other member so that the dipped beam is dispersed laterally. The beam is dipped by tilting the parabolic reflector I about a horizontal axis, such tilting being produced by the action of a cam face 9 carried by the member 3 on an abutment 10 at the lower edge of the reflector. |
