PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic coloring matter-based optical recording medium, on which the recording and reproduction by laser beams having short wavelengths of 350 to 530 nm is possible. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium, in which a recording layer recordable and reproducible with laser is provided on a substrate, the recording layer includes a coloring matter represented by general formula (D), wherein rings A and A' represent aromatic hydrocarbon rings, aromatic heterocycles, sandwich molecules or semi-sandwich molecules under the state that one and the other rings may well be substituted equally to or differently from each other. A benzene ring B further may well have a substituent. |
