The coupling piece for the suction nozzle for dental equipment has an insert (1) in the air passage (4), preferably of cruciform section to trap any fillings absorbent wadding etc. which may get drawn in . It can have a stepped taper bore, so as to hold nozzles of either 11 or 16 mm. diameter, while its grip ring (2) can be tapered to allow easy detachment from the hose by pulling and turning with the fingers. The piece can be of special plastics which allows sterilisation in hot air or an autoclave.
