The central structural shaft is incorporated in a building for the accessible location of mains feeds together with the controlled distribution of all flat services. Incorporated services include hot and cold water supply, collection and disposal of rainwater from the roof, air conditioning and ventilation, gas and electricity, and the collection and disposal of domestic sewerage. The shaft has a thermally insulated (18) hollow round section, using a conical dished cover (1) to collect roof (14) water. An axial down pipe (7) discharges roof run-off, also receiving waste water pipes (15) at a lower level.
