PURPOSE:To rapidly detect the malfunction of a power converter control system by monitoring the value of the output voltage of the control system. CONSTITUTION:A load current detected by a DC current detector 8 can be examined by a comparator 9 whether it is the preset prescribed level or higher or not. On the other hand, an input voltage detected by a DC voltage detector 10 is examined by a comparator 11 whether it is within the prescribed range or not. When the outputs of the both comparators 9, 11 become ''1'', the output of an AND circuit 12 becomes ''1'', an analog switch 13 is operated to monitor a phase control signal EC. A timer 16 outputs a phase control signal excess high signal, and a timer 17 outputs a phase control signal excess low signal, and necessary process such as the stoppage of a chopper is executed.
