PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transforming plant imparted with resistance against ionic toxicity and capable of growing even under a salt stress corresponding to the seawater. SOLUTION: This transforming plant cell imparted with a function for releasing lithium ions or sodium ions is obtained by introducing ENA1 which is the sodium ion releasing pump gene of a budding yeast to a plant cell and expressing Enalp protein coded by the aforesaid ENA1 and imparting the function for releasing lithium ions or sodium ions to the aforesaid plant. The aforesaid plant cell is claimed to be tobacco BY cell. A plant body obtained from the aforesaid transforming plant cell is also claimed.
