PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of picture memory and to obtain an excellent transfer image by setting light intensity on the surface of a photosensitive drum in a main destaticizing step more than 2.6 times that in a pretransfer step. CONSTITUTION:The light intensity on the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 from a main destaticizing lamp 9 is set more than 2.6 times that from a destaticizing lamp 5 before transfer, preferably less than five times. If the light intensity (illuminance) on the surface of the photosensitive drum in the main destaticizing step is below 2.6 times that in a pretransfer destaticizing step, destaticization is insufficient to cause the picture memory. If it is more than five times, light fatigue is sharp, and its difference is not eliminated, thereby causing the picture memory in the same manner. |
