A fanlight is opened or closed by means of a sliding rod (3) which slides in a vertical guide (5). The sliding rod is connected to one end of a link (8) by means of a coupling piece (9). The other end of the link is pivoted to a slide (10) which can slide in a U section lever (7). This lever is mounted on a pivot (6) attached to the lower end of the vertical guide (5). The position of the slide (10) in the lever can be adjusted by means of a screw (16) so that the distance between the lever pivot and the link pivot (15) can be varied in order to vary the travel of the actuating rod (3).
