PURPOSE:To obtain a new enzymic inhibitor pyrizinostatin, having enzymic inhibiting activity having high specificity for a pyroglutamyl peptidase and expectable as an immunological modifying agent for antimicrobial agents or a therapeutic agent for pituitary hormone hyposecretion. CONSTITUTION:The objective enzymic inhibitor pyrizinostatin is expressed by the formula. This inhibitor is obtained by culturing a microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptomyces and capable of producing the pyrizinostatin, e.g. a strain of strain No. SA-2289 (FERM P-12705) which is a new actinomyces separated from a oil sample in a culture medium containing nutriments utilizable by the microorganism and then collecting the pyrizinostatin from the resultant culture. |
