PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in reading and writing data in a nonvolatile memory when a tape which uses the nonvolatile memory is used. SOLUTION: When a tape is loaded, data in an MIC (internal memory) are read and the parity is checked (S10). When no error is found, the data are written to the memory (S11, S12). When an error is found, MIC contact restoring operation is performed by moving a cassette up and down (S15 to S17) and the parity is checked again (S10). The check and restoring operation are repeated and if an error is still found after restoring is repeated up to an upper- limit frequency (S14), the tape is fed to a ready position (S18) and the data in a system area on the tape are read in (S19). At this time, a flag in the system area which indicates which of MIC and tape system area data is used is so changed that the tape is used.
|
