An accelaration sensor capable of securely detecting an acceleration when an inclination of an inclined member is within a specified range and suppressing an unnecessary movement of related members when it is out of the specified range so as to increase an internal space efficiency, wherein a large gear of a stationary gear fixed to a seat cushion is formed only in a part of the stationary gear in circumferential direction, and a portion where the gear is not formed is used as a slide surface, one tooth of a plurality of teeth of a pinion of a revolving gear is made small in tooth width and forms a tooth-absent part and, when the forward tilting angle of the seat back exceeds a specified angle, the tooth-absent part faces the slide surface and the revolving gear itself stops rotating and, because a bracket on which a sensor ball is placed also does not rotate, the bracket is held at a specified position relative to a frame body (16), whereby only a small space formed in a frame plate is needed to accommodate the rotation of the bracket, and a high space efficiency is provided.
