Radioactive therapeutic seeds (10) include a seed capsule (12), a radioactive isotope (16), and a radiopaque marker (14). According to one embodiment of the invention, the radiopaque marker (14) is a silver wire coil, and the isotope (16) is coated on the surface of the coil. According to a first method of the invention, the therapeutic dosage of the seed is adjusted during manufacture by expanding or contracting the coil before it is sized, and deposited in the capsule.
