PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lathe capable of supporting a thin work without distortion by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This lathe is provided with a main spindle 4 on which a jig 12 supporting a work W is freely attachably/detachably mounted, a tool rest 6 and a jig carrying in/out means 20 carrying the jig 12 in/out of the main spindle 4. The jig carrying in/out means 20 is constituted of a chuck, for instance, and is installed in the tool rest 6. At a tip of the main spindle 4, a main spindle chuck body 10 into which one end of a hollow work W can be fitted is provided. A clamp shaft 11 capable of passing through the work W is provided by being protruded freely advanced and retreated from a front surface of the main spindle chuck body 10. The jig 12 presses the other end of the hollow work W to the main spindle chuck body 10 side by being engaged with a clamp part 11b of the clamp shaft 11.
