PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining wall structure and a block for retaining wall capable of providing an extremely excellent workability with a simple structure, surely performing a construction operation, and providing a high rigidity as an integral structure after the construction. SOLUTION: This retaining wall structure comprises a first block having a retaining wall on the rear side of a front wall thereof and having a connection rod buried so that the tip is exposed to the upper end part of a block, a second block having a retaining wall on the rear side of the front wall thereof and having a connection rod buried so that the tip is exposed to the upper and lower end parts of the block, and a third block, having a retaining wall on the rear side of the front wall thereof and having a connection rod buried so that the tip is exposed to the lower end part of the block. The second blocks of specified number of stages are disposed on the first block, and the third block is disposed on the second block disposed on the uppermost stage. The opposed connection rods for the blocks adjacent to each other in the vertical direction are interconnected to each other through a connection means.
