PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor which can avoid the seizure even in a high revolution state, can reduce the fretting wear and has a long operation life and to achieve a high density hard-disc drive apparatus. SOLUTION: This spindle motor has a bearing device 4 between a spindle shaft and a rotor comprising an inner wheel 10, an outer wheel 11 and rolling elements 13 provided between the inner and outer wheels 10 and 11. The inner and outer wheels 10 and 11 of the bearing device 4 are made of steel and the rolling elements 13 of the bearing device 4 are made of ceramics.
