PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file management system for managing the use conditions of a file storing a dynamic image, e.g. a TV program. SOLUTION: When a recording file A for storing received dynamic image data is generated in the file management system, a recording control section 2 also generates a property file B for storing status information indicative of the use conditions (e.g. the number of times of reproduction or reproduced parts) of the recording file A and stores that status information in the property file B depending on the use conditions of the recording file A. When a file browsing section 4 browses all recording files A, use conditions of each recording file A is acquired from the property file B and presented plainly to a user using an icon which is different depending on whether the file is reproduced or not.
