The device (1) has an image sensor (4) for determining the distance of an object from the reception of light of a light source (2) e.g. laser diode, which is reflected by the object. A testing unit (5) is formed to test the operability of the image sensor. The testing unit is formed to modify the light penetrating into the image sensor in a targeted manner such that the image sensor receives the light according to a given distance falsified around a well-known value. An independent claim is also included for a method for testing an opto-electronic monitoring device. |
