[Also in Division B3] A machine for producing armoured hoses, particularly high-pressure hoses, the armouring of which consists of continuous windings of permanently deformable strands, such as wires and tapes, comprises an extractor for non- rotatingly guiding and extracting a hose to be armoured, at least one rotatable member for winding the strands around said hose, and a deforming device for each armoured layer associated with said rotatable member and having at least two adjustably spaced ring- shaped deforming members, said deforming device being adapted to permanently deform the strands just before having been wound on to the hose while passing over said ring-shaped deforming members. A rubber hose to be armoured is drawn, on a mandrel through rotating winding heads 30 by endlels belt means 31. Each winding head 30 includes a plate 41 carrying sets of bobbins 37 from which wires 36 pass over rollers 38 and ring-shaped deforming members 40, 401 carried by the plate 41 and then through holes 60 arranged in two concentric circles in a disc 39, carried by the plate 41, to be wound on to the hose as the latter passes through the winding head. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the ring members 40, 401 are mounted so as not to rotate and the disc 39 is rotated by the wires passing therethrough or by belt and pulley means. In another modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the rings 40, 401 do not rotate and the disc 39 is carried by the plate 41 so that the wires pass through the holes 60 therein before engaging the rings 40, 401. In a further modification, Fig. 5, wires 23 from bobbins on a winding plate 18 pass through holes 22 in a rotary guide disc 21 over the end 26 of a tube 19 and end 27 of a tubular member 16 to be wound on a hose 24 pulled through these members, a tube 28 guiding the wires and the hose. Wires or tapes of synthetic plastic material or metal may be wound. The edges of the deforming members may be electrically heated for use with thermoplastic material.
