1,063,866. Bearings. W. SCHAEFFLER, and G. SCHAEFFLER, [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER OHG]. Oct. 30, 1964 [Nov. 2. 1963], No. 44344/64. Heading F2A. A cage for cylindrical rollers (10), Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), in a roller bearing is made from a rectangular strip of sheet-metal whose longitudinal edges are folded to form rims (2) on either side of a plurality of slots (4), Fig. 3 (not shown), which are punched in the strip to form bars (5) for guiding the rollers, each of the bars having a central portion (7) cranked or offset radially inwardly relative to the axis of the bearing to retain the rollers in the slots. The strip is bent into cylindrical form and its abutting ends are attached to each other by welding. The edges (11) of the bars may be shaped to match the cross-sectional profile of the rollers. |
