Process involves applying a dry anti-slip coating to a cloth by feeding two strips of cloth (cotton) back to back with an intervening sheet of (polyethylene) thermoplastic film through roll nips and over a roller where the sandwich is heated to melt the thermoplastic sufficiently to impregnate the cloth surface (pref. 200-500 degrees C for 30-40 secs. or 205-210 degrees C for 10-15 secs.) and subsequently separating the cloth layers at a temperature (100 degrees C) at which the plastic can shear to leave fibrillar coatings on both fabrics.
