Benzimidazoles of the formula wherein R is a methyl, ethyl or isopropyl group and R 1 is a C 1-8 n-alkyl group, are obtained by reacting the corresponding alkyl 2-benzimidazolecarbamates with isocyanates (R 1 NCO) in liquids selected from acetone, methylethyl ketone, 2-ethoxyethanol, dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulphoxide and methyl isobutyl ketone, optionally in admixture with water. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,193,462.</p> |
