1,254,833. Suction lifting heads. RAPISTAN Inc. 19 Jan., 1970 [11 April, 1969], No. 2423/70. Heading B8H. In a suction lifting head, Fig. 2, in which the suction chamber has an apertured grate over its lower face, the suction chamber is divided into separate compartments by walls 26, 28, 30, 32, Fig. 5, in which there are apertures selectively openable by slides 46 to put the compartments selectively in connection with the vacuum source. As described the slides are moved by hydraulic or pneumatic rams 48a-48d or solenoids. Manual or programmed operation of the slides may be provided. Fig. 9 shows an embodiment with manually operated slides 142 and a resilient gasket 90 between the apertured grate and the-load. Figs. 10-12 (not shown), illustrate an embodiment in which the slides connect the compartments with a suction chamber disposed above them instead of with adjacent compartments. Specification 1,226,302 is referred to.
|
