The method involves evaluating an evaporated fraction of fuel e.g. petrol, in a combustion chamber of a direct injection internal combustion engine at the end of an intake cycle according a law of predetermined evaluation. An evaporated fraction of fuel is determined by acquiring alcohol level present in the fuel. A value representative of the alcohol level during carburizing phase is acquired. An adaptation step is performed in which the law of predetermined evaluation is adjusted according to the value representative of the alcohol level. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle (2) a computer readable medium comprising instructions for performing a method for estimating charge of fresh air.
