PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute color matching favorably at all times without requiring a plurality of test patterns and without wasting toner, and obtain correct information irrespective of a shape and a power difference of each beam light. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus is provided with an arrangement in which after a predetermined color overlapping accuracy is obtained by controlling a color registration once for forming color images, the beam light is scanned in the same state at all times to each drum to maintain a beam scanning state. A means for switching a path of the beam light is also provided to a laser scanning system. For obtaining good images at all times even if the optical path is switched, a sensor provided in the vicinity of the photoreceptor drum detects whether or not each beam light scans a predetermined point without inclining, whether or not each beam light scans a predetermined scanning region (scanning range), and whether or not each image magnification is a predetermined size. Moreover, a sensor for detecting scanning of the beam light obtains a center (center of gravity) position of the beam light from information on both a response start point and a response stop point of the sensor, and executes various controls based on information on the center position. |
