PURPOSE:To decrease the characteristic change with temp. and to improve reliability for a long period of time by heating locally the surface of a torque transmission shaft then cooling quickly the heated part thereby forming an amorphous alloy layer. CONSTITUTION:The torque transmission shaft 1 is so composed that the magnetostrictive effect exists in the amorphous layer to be formed when said shaft is locally heated and quickly cooled. For example, such a material as (Fe0.05Cr0.05)79(SiB)21 is used. Projecting parts 2, 3 for torque transmission are mated with the recesses (not shown) provided to a driving side shaft and a load side shaft by which the torque can be transmitted. A coil 5 is wound on the outside circumference of the amorphous alloy layer 4 formed by the local heating and quick cooling of the shaft 1 without contacting with the shaft 1. The change of the magnetic permeability of the layer 4 is detected by using the coil 5 and the torque is sensed and outputted by a detection circuit part 6. |
