PURPOSE:To feed a recording paper by a constant amount even if a platen roller of different diameter is used, by a method wherein the recording paper is fed by a paper feed means and slipped on the platen roller. CONSTITUTION:A paper feed means 15 provided between a platen roller 14 and a holder 12 consits of a feed roller 16 and a pinch roller 17, and the former is driven by a drive means 18 similarly to the platen roller 14. The peripheral speed of the feed roller 16 is set to a specified speed appropriate to a printing on a recording paper 21, and the peripheral speed of the platen roller 14 is set higher than the specified speed. The coefficient of friction and the pressing force are so selected that the force of feeding the recording paper 21 by the platen roller 14 is set smaller than that by the feed roller 16, whereby the platen roller 14 slips and the recording paper 21 is fed at the same speed as the peripheral speed of the feed roller 16.
