The present invention is directed to a radioactive diagnostic agent which comprises, as an active ingrediant, a glucosamine derivative of the formula: wherein Ac is an acetyl group and X is a radioactive iodine atom. The diagnostic agents of the present invention are useful in the measurement of glucose transportation or glucose phosphorylation capabilities in various tissues and organs.
