PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging part protection cover for a long rod insulator preventing short-circuit accidents which result from making of contact of a charging part with the branches and leaves of trees or birds that come flying thereto by preventing exposure of the charging part, when it is receives impacts caused by arc discharge. SOLUTION: This charging part protection cover C hermetically covering the charging part 21 of a long rod insulator 20 has an arc exit window 4 opened in its outer peripheral wall and has an arc exit window cover 11, anchored openably to the outside of the outer peripheral wall for covering the arc exit window 4. Normally the arc exit window cover 11 hermetically covers the arc exit window 4, and when an arc exits, the cover 11 is isolated from the outer wall by the impact of the arc, and even after the isolation, covers the arc exit window 4 to prevent the exposure of the charging part 21 to the outside, thereby preventing short-circuit accidents resulting from contact of the charging part 21 with the branches and leaves of trees or birds that come flying thereto.
