摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating type magnetic recording medium having high electromagnetic conversion characteristics and excellent in shelf life. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium comprises a nonmagnetic underlying layer, and a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic metallic powder formed sequentially on a nonmagnetic support and recording is performed at a recording wavelength of 0.15-0.50μm using a magnetic head made of a metal based material having saturation flux density Bs of 1.2 T or above. Hc of the magnetic recording medium after being stocked for 10 days at 60 deg.C and 90% RH is +103% or above as compared with Hc before being stocked, thickness of the magnetic layer is between 0.05μm andλ/4μm (λ1 is shortest recording wavelength).
