PURPOSE: A reverse phase connection detecting apparatus of an air conditioner using three-phase alternating current power is provided to prevent wrong operation of the air conditioner by restricting a compressor from being damaged from reverse phase with sounding an alarm at reverse phase connection. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner is composed of an outdoor unit supplying three-phase power from a power connection terminal through a relay to a compressor, and an indoor unit having a control relay controlling the outdoor unit. A detecting device of reverse-phase connection consists of a detecting unit detecting the power from the power connection terminal; an on-and-off control unit regulating the relay by turning off if the power to be over the reference voltage, and by turning on if the power to be less than the reference voltage; and an alarm outputting unit sounding an alarm. The compressor is prevented from being damaged at reverse-phase connection, and wrong operation of the air conditioner is prevented. The air conditioner is operated actively with sounding an alarm at reverse phase connection.
