PURPOSE: An automatic mirror angle adjuster for a vehicle is provided to automatically adjust the angle of an inside rearview mirror and outside rearview mirrors by detecting the position of the eyes of a driver employing a camera and an ultrasonic sensor. CONSTITUTION: An automatic mirror angle adjuster for a vehicle comprises a camera(11), an image processing unit(12), an infrared lamp(13), an ultrasonic sensor(14), a control unit(15), an inside rearview mirror driving unit(16) and an outside rearview mirror driving unit(17). The camera is installed at the lower portion of a roof panel to capture the face of a driver. The image processing unit detects the vertical position of the eyes of the driver by processing the face image of the driver. The infrared lamp installed around the camera irradiates beams to the face of the driver at night. The ultrasonic sensor, preferably a narrow-band ultrasonic sensor, is installed at the lower portion of the roof panel to measure the horizontal length of the driver's face. The control unit is connected to the image processing unit and the ultrasonic sensor. Position of the eyes of the driver in a three-dimensional space is detected by the operation of the values obtained via the image processing unit and the ultrasonic sensor. The control unit generates signals for driving the inside and outside rearview mirrors. The inside rearview mirror and the outside rearview mirror adjust the angles of the inside and outside rearview mirrors with the driving signals from the control unit.
