PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus with a camera shake correction function with the camera shake correction function (camera shake correction drive) immune to the effect by a front curtain shock. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus (digital camera) includes a camera shake sensor 171 for detecting a camera shake amount given to the digital camera; a camera shake correction unit 200 for applying camera shake correction driving to an imaging element 101, on the basis of the camera shake detecting signal; a shutter unit 40, arranged immediately before the imaging element 101 and executing optical path and optical path shut-off operations of light led to the imaging element 101; a timing control circuit 51 for giving a prescribed reset signal to each pixel, in units of a prescribed pixel lines of the imaging element 101 to allow the imaging element 101 to start exposure; and a shutter control section 623 for controlling the exposure of the imaging element 101, and at photographing the shutter control section 623 executes electronic shutter control (electronic focal plane shutter) for allowing the imaging element 101 to start exposure, on the basis of the reset signal given to each pixel from the timing control circuit 51.
