PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for treating waste water containing organic matter, in each of which the waste water containing organic matter can be treated by a MBR method in a well-balanced manner.SOLUTION: The method for treating waste water containing organic matter comprises: an evaporation separation step of performing evaporation concentration treatment or distillation treatment on the waste water containing organic matter so that the waste water containing organic matter is separated into an organic matter-concentrated solution A and another solution B in which the concentration of the organic matter is lowered; and a membrane separation activated sludge treatment step of treating the solution B by a membrane separation activated sludge treatment method to obtain treated water. The system for treating waste water containing organic matter includes: an evaporation separation device 10 for performing evaporation concentration treatment or distillation treatment on the waste water containing organic matter so that the waste water containing organic matter is separated into the organic matter-concentrated solution A and the solution B in which the concentration of the organic matter is lowered; and a membrane separation activated sludge treatment device 20 for treating the solution B by the membrane separation activated sludge treatment method to obtain membrane-transmitted and treated water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
