The present invention relates to a method to effectively perform pulse width modulation signal measurement for selecting a charging mode between an electric vehicle and a charger, and a charging system of the electric vehicle capable of performing the same. A method for determining the charging mode in the electric vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention can comprise: a step of measuring a duty ratio of a control signal applied to a communication line of a charging connector in a first controller for controlling a slow charge and a second controller for controlling a rapid charge; a step of transferring a measurement result measured in each controller to a third controller for controlling a battery; a step of determining a final duty ratio by using each measurement result measured in the third controller; a step of transferring the determined final duty ratio to the first and second controllers; and a step of starting a charge with a mode corresponding to the final duty ratio.
