PURPOSE:To provide a lightweight crucible for burning ceramics, excellent in mechanical strength, resistant to thermal shock an having extremely rare reactivity with the vapor phase. CONSTITUTION:The objective crucible for burning ceramics is obtained by forming a carbon coating layer 4 on the surface of an isotropic high-purity graphite member 5 and regulating the thermal expansion coefficient of the isotropic high-purity graphite member 5 to 2.5X10<-6>/ deg.C to 7.0X10<-6>/ deg.C, the porosity to 5-25% and the thermal expansion coefficient of the carbon coating layer 6 to 0.5X10<-6>/ deg.C to 1.8X10<-6>/ deg.C. Carbon interlayers 7 are present between the isotropic high-purity graphite member 5 and the carbon coating layer 6. |
