TRANSFER OF FERTILITY-RECOVERING GENE

PURPOSE:To transfer a fertility-recovering gene to a Brassica plant by protoplast fusion between a Brassica plant and a Raphanus plant having a fertility- recovering gene corresponding to cytoplasmic male sterility. CONSTITUTION:Protoplast fusion is carried out between a Brassica plant such as rapeseed and a Raphanus plant (Japanese radish, etc.) having a fertility- recovering gene corresponding to cytoplasmic male sterility. The resultant fused cell is cultured and a plant is regenerated from the obtained colony, thus affording the objective Brassica plant to which the fertility-recovering gene is transferred.
