<p>The principal patent claims a self-supporting sheet of thermoplastic for sound insulation composed of 10 - 40 pts. of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having 10 - 45% vinyl acetate, and 90-60 pts. of an inorganic filler. The present improvement provides a layer of expanded plastic material on one face which is without support and can be applied to another structure. The panels have improved heat insulation and easier fixing to e.g. building and motor vehicles. The self-supporting layer includes ribs and recesses into the expanded layer, which may be moulded onto the self-supporting sheet or moulded in the same shape and bonded to it. The expanded layer may be formed from scrap bonded together. The surface layer of the expanded section is pref. impermeable and sprayed on the surface.</p> |
