PURPOSE:To obtain a bipolar membrane useful for electrophoresis, etc., having high water dissociation ratio, excellent acid resistance and heat resistance, by bonding a specific anion exchange membrane comprising a copolymer of styrene, etc., supported on an polyolefin base to a specific cation exchange membrane. CONSTITUTION:An anion exchange membrane 4 comprising a copolymer of styrene and divinylbenzene supported on a polyolefin base such as woven fabric of PP, containing quaternary ammonium group as an anion exchange group is bonded to a cation exchange membrane 2 comprising a copolymer having a repeating unit of the formula [m is 0 or 1; n is 1-5; x/y is 2-16; X is SO3M or COOM (M is H, alkali metal, ammonium, etc.)] to give the objective bipolar membrane. |
